SPIC MACAY Programme
World reknowned vocalist Pt. Bholenath Mishra makes the students of the school aware about the Indian Classical Music. The programme was sponsored by SPIC MACAY. Pt. Bholenath Mishraji taught the basics of 'Ragas'. Aaroh and Awroh, aakar of a rag and mesmerized the audiences with his heart stirring voice. His teachings forced children to realize the greatness of Indian Classical Music and Indian Culture. He sang ‘maata pita ko pranam karo’, Vaishanav jan to teni kahiye je’, ‘Payoji maine raam rattan dhan payo’ and a Bandish.
SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth) is a voluntary movement founded in 1977 by Dr Kiran Seth, a Professor at IIT-Delhi who was awarded the Padma Shri for his contribution to the arts in 2009. SPICMACAYs intention is to enrich the quality of formal education by increasing awareness about different aspects of Indian heritage and inspiring the young mind to imbibe the values embedded in it.
